About the author
John Vice is a Dallas based English teacher, poet, essayist, and writer of the upcoming novel, Charles Manson and the Onion Factory. He earned his English degree from the University of California, Davis and began his teaching career in 2001. His twenty plus years of experience in high school classrooms from California to Texas has given him a special insight into the lives and minds of young people, fueling his passion for allowing his adolescent characters to ring out with authentic voice and attitude. Inspired by the likes of Harper Lee, Stephen King, and Christopher Moore, John strives to create sympathetic characters while exploring the bizarre sides of the human experience. Growing up in the city of Vacaville, California, less than two miles away from an imprisoned Charles Manson, Vice described his childhood home as one that, “always had a disquieting presence in the air.” His upcoming novel, a thrilling journey of life, loss, loyalty, and redemption growing up in the shadows of America’s most notorious madman, works to capture that presence on each page, leaving readers both unsettled and reassured.
